Our Company
Jess and Malena, Inc. recognizes the importance of quality health care to a strong society and a healthy world; we are committed to respect for and ethical treatment of all people. We pledge 1% of our profits-an amount we hope to increase in the near future-to two charities: one in our backyard of Los Angeles (The Venice Family Clinic) and one that helps those in need despite being separated by an ocean (The African Millennium Foundation). Our coats are made in the Fashion District of downtown Los Angeles by professional tailors and seamstresses who set their own payment rates. Finally, we hope to encourage excellence in health care and other fields by recognizing outstanding professionals in our monthly feature.
Our Coats
From the blank canvas of the white coat, the founders, Jess and Malena, envisioned a uniform that was, well, not quite so uniform. Made from high-quality fabrics that meet OSHA requirements, our coats are designed to be practical without compromising personality; from zippered pockets to secure your smartphone or valuables to custom piping colors to showcase your individuality, a Jess and Malena coat offers the opportunity to have more choice in your white coat wardrobe.
Our People
Jessica Jeffrey (CEO) has been active in the medical and public health fields for over ten years. She holds a BS in Psychobiology from UCLA, an MPH in Maternal and Child Health/International Health from UC Berkeley and an MD/MBA from the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and the UCLA Anderson School of Management, where she focused on entrepreneurial studies. Jessica is a resident physician in psychiatry at UCLA and is pursuing her interest in child and adolescent psychiatry. She is passionate about women's and children's health issues and providing access to healthcare for all. Jessica has leveraged her extensive contacts within the medical school to conduct primary research on the demand for lab coat functionality and style.
Malena Ruth (COO) born and raised in Mozambique an economist turned fashion designer, Malena takes luxuryto its zenith, fusing a cultural myriad of fashion influences to give adistinctive and modern edge to her designs. Malena brings this acumen to theJess and Malena collection, giving the line a distinctly elegance.
Malena Ruth's designs combined with modern silhouettes, isdefined by lightness, comfort and purity. It is the philosophy that continuesto redefine modern fashion and brings comfortable yet elegant sophistication tonew generation. After all,for Jess and Malena line is where elegance and intricacy meet, but the intricacymust appear to be simplicity.
